Second Grade is preparing students for the third grade PSSA test by using a variety of differentiated instruction activities.  

The students receive individualized instruction through guided reading and kid writing.  

The second graders will be exposed to numerous text, including fiction and nonfiction, which they will be expected to read and comprehend.  

They will also be exploring current events through Time For Kids magazines.  

Writer workshops are incorporated to improve paragraph writing.  

In math, the students will again be invovled in differentiated instruction lessons as they focus on computation skills, problem solving, and terminology.  

Compass Odyssey is also a tool to better prepare them in reading and math.  

Also, students will be investigating many science topics through hands on activities.
